Bagamoyo boy!

June 27th, 2007 by admin

I’m slowly going back through and processing some of my images from Tanzania and processing some that I’ve yet to ever process.  This one I’d done before but didn’t love it because of the lack of light.  I’ve learned some things since last year and really love it now.  I’m so glad because this was a shot I really wanted to turn out wonderfully! :)

The story behind this is that I was out on the  beach in Bagamoyo one night– just around sunset and was shooting this neat boat.  This little boy saw me and jumped right in the photo.  Not shy at all!  Didn’t even have to ask picha ya wewe.  :D  I really wish I’d have had a small printer with me so I could have given these great kids prints while I was there.  They were fascinated by the digital cameras.

I’m bloggin’, yes indeed…

June 13th, 2007 by admin

I’m trying to update the blog more frequently but don’t often find (or make) the time.  I’ll try to get around to posting some people soon too, but for now, a flower. ;)

The good thing about being on a night schedule is that before you go to bed the sun rises.  Fabulous, wonderful, inviting morning light… ahhh.  Too, when you go for your early morning workout no one is even awake yet, much less out and about so you have the track all to yourself. ;)  The bad, well, you’re on a night schedule.

Goodnight!

Baby Bandits!

June 9th, 2007 by admin

Jeff went out to fire up the grill this afternoon and saw something out front. He thought at first they were cats, but they weren’t really stealthy. One turned towards him and he saw the mask. He came in and I ran out with my camera and the 100-400mm. At first it was a good thing, I was afraid that if I got too close I’d frighten them but eventually they wobbled over to within feet of me and I had to step way back to fit them in the frame! Right now one is hanging out just beside the house. They’re so cute and tiny!  And fearless!  They showed no fear of us at all.  I think if we’d tried they’d have let us pick them up and hold them.  Of course, cute as they be, I’d not be doing that. :p

Look how teeny he is! That’s the wheel of the push mower! I think they’re hoping to steal some of our burgers. heh I don’t know about a momma, we just saw the two little ones so I’m afraid she’s not around.

Sad update:

Jeff found one of the baby coons Friday morning.  It wasn’t in good condition and wasn’t alive.  :(  We don’t know where the other one is, and until he found the one that he did, we’d not seen either of them since the evening they entertained us.  Poor little guy.  We don’t know what got him but the aftermath it left wasn’t pleasant and just beside the door.
